Short-term, Part-time, Employment Opportunity for a Person with a Lived Experience of Mental Illness

NSW CAG is looking for a person with a lived experience of mental illness who is: passionate about consumer participation, self-driven and has some experience working with other consumers to action systemic change; to join our dynamic Policy Team.

Policy Officer (PO) – Consumer Designated Position

v Part time - 15 hours per week (2 or 3 days per week by agreement)

v Fixed term period of 3 months - beginning in late January 2013

v Remuneration: $22.71 – $24.26 per hour (dependent on Education Level)[1]

The Policy Officer will work within our Policy Team to write submissions, attend committees, provide feedback to government, and engage with consumers and stakeholders to ensure we have current information to inform our work. Team members also undertake relevant research and contribute to NSW CAG’s other core work including publications, policy development, specific project work and the planning, implementation and evaluation of our strategic directions.

There are other POs who have an experience of mental illness in ‘Consumer Designated’ positions in the team. POs in Consumer Designated roles, including the successful occupant of this position, are required to provide expert input into the Policy Team work drawing on their distinctive perspective as a person with a lived experience of mental illness.

[1] *Position classified as Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (Modern) Award (SCHADS) Social and Community Services Employee Level 3. Pay Rate is based on NSW SACS Award Community Services Worker Grade 3 Year 1 - 3).
